Friday and Tuesday Sept 18

So I worked with a few students with their presentations that are due in the next few days today. I worked with a few others with their pieces of writing due on Thursday.

And so, after I got through that, we did some reading of the next unit, a novel Into Thin Air.

Here is the very first part of that unit, a Web Quest:

1.  Go to the Wikipedia page for this novel (and film, if you’d like). After doing a bit of poking around, what are five things you can tell me about Jon Krakauer, the guy who wrote the novel?

2.  In an informal piece of writing of about 100 words, why, do you think, that Mr Chesser would include this novel in the 4C course this semester.

3.  How is this novel different from other novels you have read in school? What are some similarities to other books you have read in other English courses?

4.  What lead this author to choose this topic for an article?


5.  What are three ideas that different people involved with this misadventure have conflicts about? Why might there be some “hard feelings” about these ideas?
